Among all the places for mountain viewing in the Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot is usually considered to be the best. The views go from Dhaulagir in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east. On a clear day you can see Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha). You can also see Manaslu (8,463m), Ganesh Himal (7,111m), and Langtang (7,246m). Many people go up to Nagarkot in the afternoon, stay in a hotel in Nagarkot, and then get up at dawn to see the Himalaya Mountains during the sunrise.

There are number of walks to and from Nagarkot and kathmandu. Walk down to Sundarijal, Sankhu, Changu Narayan, Chisopani and Banepa-Dhulikhel. Nagarkot is on a ridge on the eastern rim of the valley and the extends all the way from Dhaulagiri in west, Everest view and Kanchenjanga in east. Walking to and from nagarkot is an interesting and alternative walking possible which are below

Nagarkot to Sankhu:- From nagarkot a dirt road goes to sankhu through katike village then take a left edge of down for more interesting walk take minor road that turn off sharply to the right down

Nagarkot to Banepa:- The town of banepa is 29km far from kathmandu valley and its main town on the way to dhulikhel on the arniko highway. From nagarkot start the walk near the look out tower at the southern part of the ridge and follow a steep descent to the southeast. The trail pass through nala with interesting temple then reach to banepa and then by bus back to kathmandu.

Daman Hiking: Hiking to Daman, is situated at the height of 2100m above sea level. Daman is known for it's vantage location in viewing the Himalayan peaks such as Mt. Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorjelakpa, Gaurishankar, Cho yu etc. There is a view tower from where one can have a panoramic view of 300 miles of the Himalayan range.
Namo Buddha: Namo Buddha means 'Greetings to the Buddha'. It is the symbol of human sacrifice at the highest possible level. It is situated on a hill above Panauti. It requires an easy drive or good walk to get over there.
The main highlights of this treks are old Newari village at Snakhu, the terraced farmlands, superb mountain views, a visit to the beautiful Buddhist stupa of Namobuddha and the Serene temples in Panauti.

There are a couple monasteries and one ancient stupa erected nearby in which one can make offerings, pray, and light butter lamps
Namo Buddha is a good place for meditation as well.
Nagarkot is 32 kilometres east of Kathmandu, on the northeast edge of the Valley at an elevation of 2,175m. It is best to view the mountains in the early morning because it is more likely to be clear. There is a viewing tower next to the Club Himalaya Resort, where you get good views that has a coffee shop where you can sit inside. Many of the hotels also have good views.
There is a lookout tower south of the village where you can get a 360º view of the scenery. It is an easy one hour walk from the main hotel area. To get there you have to pass an army checkpoint, and they will only let you past in the morning.
